Laser treatments

Eye lasers are used to treat the front, angle and back of the eye. The most common laser treatment called YAG capsulotomy is performed to get rid of the membrane formed behind the artificial lens following a cataract surgery. It is an office procedure done in 5 to 10 minutes and quickly clears vision.

Lasers for the coloured part – called Iris and angle of the eye are performed to prevent sudden or progressive rise in eye pressures thus protecting the optic nerve and peripheral field of vision.

Laser treatment to the retina is a specialist procedure performed in sight threatening conditions as diabetic retinopathy, vein occlusions, vasculitis, etc. It helps prevent bleeding into the back of the eye and subsequent vision loss. It takes 30 to 40 minutes per setting and may need multiple settings.
